Joseph started his music experience playing piano, before switching to percussion in the fifth grade. Joseph can often be found playing marimba, vibraphone, and other mallet instruments, but he also enjoys playing drums and auxiliary percussion instruments alongside the Shadle Park band and percussion ensemble. Being a junior in high school and a running start student, Joseph starts his day with Percussion Ensemble at Shadle Park, before heading to Spokane Falls Community College to complete his college classes. In his free time, there is nothing Joseph enjoys more than learning and practicing music on the marimba. Joseph likes to play classical music such as Bach, Chopin, and Debussy on marimba, but also enjoys advanced marimba repertoire. Aside from music, Joseph is considered a “Tech Wiz” and works in IT (Information Technology) building and maintaining computers and servers. In the future, Joseph plans to continue his work in IT, while also playing marimba and other percussion instruments on the side. Joseph plans to attend Eastern Washington University and major in percussion performance. Joseph believes that his experiences in the Shadle Park Percussion Ensemble and with Inland Empire Percussion have been extremely influential in his post secondary education plans.
